Sprint car driver Ken Whitehouse, 53, passed away at 20h09 on Sunday night, 09 April 2000 at Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, due to complications arising from injuries received sixteen days earlier in an accident on the half-mile dirt oval of State Fair Speedway - also known as Oklahoma City State Fairgrounds - in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States.

Ken Whitehouse sustained respiratory failure on Sunday afternoon and died several hours later. He suffered brain hemorrhaging, crushed vertebrae and a broken back when his #88W sprint car went out of control, crashed and flipped over at the State Fair Speedway on Friday, 24 March 2000. He was knocked unconscious and an ambulance took him to hospital.

Ken Ronald Whitehouse was born on 21 August 1946, in Carnegie, Oklahoma. He graduated from Grant High School in 1964. Whitehouse served in the Air Force, after attending the University of Oklahoma. He returned to Oklahoma City in 1971. He opened Whitehouse Machine, a diesel engine shop in Oklahoma City, a business he operated until his death. He drove sprints and modifieds. Whitehouse was a loving father, a dedicated grandfather, an intelligent entrepreneur and a man that liked everyone.

He was survived by his parents, Leo D. and Joyce (née Good) Whitehouse of Wichita Falls, Texas; two brothers, Brad Whitehouse, his wife Denise of Oklahoma City and Keith Whitehouse of Dallas; two daughters, Jennifer and her husband, Bobby Ore and Erin Whitehouse of Oklahoma City and four grandchildren,Jordan, Sydney, Kelly and Shelby Ore of Oklahoma City. Ken was engaged to Karen Boles of Midwest City. Burial was at Carnegie Cemetery in Carnegie, Caddo County, Oklahoma.

A week after his death, the State Fair Speedway hosted a memorial service in Ken Whitehouse's honor at the track.
