Notes:
Alexandre Jacopini, an entrant in the French Peugeot Super 206 Rally Cup, also known as "Volant Peugeot", was killed during the first special stage of the 2002 Rallye Alsace-Vosges, second round of the 2002 French Rally Championship.

The accident happened at 19h15 on Friday, 31 May 2002, about seven kilometers after the start of the stage, in the small town of Mandray, Vosges, France. Alexandre Jacopini lost control of his #89 Peugeot 206 XS Sport and crashed heavily, being killed almost instantly. His co-driver Alain Falguerolle sustained minor injuries and was taken to Nancy hospital.

After the accident all the drivers in the Peugeot Super 206 Cup withdrew from the rally as a mark of respect. A few days later, Peugeot Sport decided to redistribute all the prizes among the Volant Peugeot starters of the rally.

Alexandre Jacopini was reported to be from Mougins, Alpes-Maritimes department, France. Place of birth not confirmed. He started his career in 1999, at the age of 19. Jacopini caught the attention of French rally enthusiasts during the Rallye d'Antibes of that year, then a round of the European Rally Championship, when as a newcomer he set two second scratch times in special stages, at the wheel of a Peugeot 106 S16, co-driven by Franck Bondrille, eventually finishing 14th overall. The following year he joined Team T3M of Jean-Claude Nato and had his debut in the Volant Peugeot, scoring a 15th place in his class at the Lyon-Charbonnières Rally and 16th at the Rally des Cardabelles in a Peugeot 106 S16. In 2001 Jacopini co-driven by Thierry Leon, finished 25th in the series, with a 15th place at the Rallye Charlemagne and a 12th at the Rallye Montagne Noire Mazamet in Midi-Pyrénée. Paired with navigator Lionel Currat, Alexandre Jacopini progressed to a Peugeot 206 XS Sport and started the 2002 season with a solid 10th place in the first round of the Volant Peugeot, the Rallye National Terre de l'Auxerrois.
