Notes:
Promising Tanzanian rally driver Khalid Bakhresa, 22-year-old, who was in his first full season as a rally driver, died on the spot when his car rolled and hit a telephone pole, as he tried to avoid a young spectator crossing the road.

The accident happened on Sunday, 16 December 2007, during the 35-kilometer first special stage of the Zanzibar Rally, final round of the 2007 Tanzania Rally Championship. Bakhresa's co-driver, the experienced Ugandan Moses Motovu, sustained serious injuries. He was discharged from hospital only several days after the crash

Reportedly, Khalid Bakhresa wasn't driving his own car which had a mechanical problem shortly before the start of the rally, he was at the wheel of a Prodrive Subaru Impreza, the former racing car of his elder brother Omar Bakhresa, the 2006 Tanzania Rally Champion, who was away in Malaysia on a business trip. Khalid and Omar Bakhresa were the son of Said Salim Awadh Bakhresa, well-known Tanzanian industrialist and businessman.

During the previous edition of Rally Zanzibar, held in June 2006, another fatal accident happened on the same special stage, when co-driver Nasir Khan died after rollover.
