Notes:
Young French driver Patrick Reichrath suffered a fatal accident during a practice session for the 11th edition of the Course de Côte de Abreschviller, held in Abreschviller, Meurthe-et-Moselle department in north-eastern France.

It happened on the morning of Sunday, 9 May 1976. Some five hundred meters before the finish line of the hillclimb, Reichrath's Alpine-Renault A110 left the pavement, flipped slideways and crashed against a large tree some seven meters below the road level. The roll-bar of the car did not stand the crash, trapping the driver inside the vehicle, that had its roof crushed by the impact. Patrick Reichrath perished at the spot.

That was Reichrath's first participation in a racing event. Eight years earlier another debuting driver, Antoinette Mangin, lost her life in an accident very close to the place where Reichrath crashed, during the 1968 edition of the hillclimb.

Patrick Reichrath, who was a mechanic by profession, shared a passion for motorsports with his father. A twenty-three-year old, he was said to be a messin - that is, from Metz -, but it is unclear whether he was a native or a resident of that French town.

The Motorsport Memorial Team would be grateful for any additional information on Mr. Reichrath's life and career. Thank you.
