Off-road pro racer, Nathan Woods crashed during a practice session at Honolulu Hills Raceway in Taft, California. The accident occurred on the motocross portion of the track, while he was preparing for the opening round of the World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS). Woods lost control over a tabletop jump, was kicked off his bike and landed heavily. He suffered internal injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, California.

Woods was the 2004 and 2005 WORCS champion and had won two individual gold medals at the International Six Days Enduro. He lived in Paso Robles, California with his wife Amanda and two children, Nate and Braxton.

Nathan Woods was a good friend of road racer Jake Zemke. Zemke dedicated his pole position at the 2011 Daytona 200 to his late friend.
