Notes:
Robert Jecker, more commonly known as Robby Jecker, was one of the top German motorcycle riders of the 1920s and 1930s.

Robby Jecker rose to the top echelons of the sport in 1922 when he won the II Eifelrundfahrt in Nideggen - after the Nürburgring was inaugurated, in 1927, the event was "retro-named" II Eifelrennen. That race was held under most difficult conditions, first a strong rain made racing almost impossible and the meeting was almost cancelled; after the rain stopped, the track dried quickly, and the dust raised by competing cars and motorcycles brought the visibility to virtually nil. Despite all challenges Jecker pressed on and dominated the race in the class for motorcycles of up to 1000 cm3. In fact, Jecker's sovereignty over its opponents was such that he famously stopped in a hotel in Hasenfeld to drink a glass wine and quench the thirst caused by the dusty roads before returning to the race.

He would continue to be listed as one of the top riders of his time until meeting his demise in an accident during unofficial practice for the 1932 Belgian Grand Prix, held at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit on 17 July. The freak accident also claimed the life of fellow competitor Bruno Quaglieni.

The accident happened on 15 July 1932 at 17h45, about 45 minutes before the beginning of the official practice session. The Italian Quaglieni was testing his 250 cm3 Moto Guzzi and left the paddock going up the hill after Eau Rouge, then he decided to return because he didn't want to do a very long complete lap. At the same moment Robby Jecker was coming coming up the Eau Rouge keeping the left side of the road. The two bikes crashed head-on resulting in the deaths of the two riders.

Reportedly Quaglieni died on the spot, even though the records at the Archive of the city of Amsterdam state that he died in the locality of Bevercè, near Malmedy, about five kilometers East of the circuit. This may mean that he was transported there after the accident. Robby Jecker suffered leg and internal injuries and died the same day at Stavelot hospital.

Even though Robby Jecker is mostly remembered for his racing achievements riding 1000 cm3 Harley-Davidson bikes, he entered the 1932 Belgian Grand Prix on a 500 cm3 NSU and he was riding that bike when he suffered his fatal accident.
