Notes: The experienced International Six Days of Trial (ISDT) Trophy competitor Hans Weber from Liepzig, East Germany, was killed when he lost control of his MZ bike and crashed, during the the Jilemnice International Trial Championship held at Jilemnice, Czechoslovakia, on 24 and 25 May 1969.
Hans Weber suffered critical injuries from which he died several hours later at Jilemnice hospital. Owing to this tragic accident the remaining East German riders withdrew from the trial.
The accident occurred on the first day of the Czechoslovakian international two-day ISDT-type trial. With the start and finish line in the village of Harrachov, in northern Czechoslovakia, the mountain roads event was the fourth round of the 1969 European Championship.
One of the most famous and successful enduro riders of his country, Hans Weber had been a member of the East German Trophy team since it began its five-consecutive-victories sequence in 1963 at Spindleruv Min, Czechoslovakia. Amongst his team mates were Horst Lohr, Peter Uhlig, Werner Salewsky, Klaus Teuchert, Klaus Halser, Karl-Heinz Wagner, Bernd Uhlmann and Günter Baumann. Hans Weber was still in the line-up in the 1968 International Six Days of Trial at San Pellegrino Terme in Italy, but did not race. After his death, the supremacy of the East German team was confirmed in 1969. They won once again the ISDT World Trophy at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, West Germany, and dedicated their seventh consecutive victory to the memory of their fallen comrade.
